Match Report, Beaconsfield Colts 15 Amersham & Chiltern Colts 17 Amersham & Chiltern Colts visited neighbours Beaconsfield Colts in a play off match between those Clubs that finished in the top half of Division 2 of the Oxford, Bucks and Berks League and those Clubs finishing in the lower half of Division 1. Beaconsfield kicked off against the wind and the slope and were soon under pressure from a lively Chilts Team , eager to keep their Div 1 status. A forced error in midfield resulted in a kick through and chase which Fraser Clarke won to touch down for an early try for Amersham & Chiltern , converted by Josh Davies. Josh added a penalty from long distance to give a ten point lead but this was soon eroded by a Beaconsfield penalty. More pressure was maintained by Amersham & Chiltern and a quick pick up from Ed Jones and intelligent running from the William Sendell , the scrum half making his debut from the U17s, enabled Ed to dummy and score under the posts, converted by Josh Davies. The teams turned around at 3-17. The second half saw pressure reversed with Beaconsfield stretching the Amersham & Chiltern defence at every opportunity creating penalty opportunities which were successfully converted pulling the score back to 12-17. Beaconsfield then scored a long range dropped goal and with the score 15-17 looked the stronger team. However, Amersham & Chiltern rallied for the final ten minutes with Ed Jones making forceful runs down the right wing with Matt Craigs another u17 making his debut , giving an excellent first performance. The final score was 15-17 and all agreed it had been a very fine and well fought contest.
