. In a pulsating cup final, played on neutral territory at Aylesbury,Amersham & Chiltern beat Marlow 25/11.
Chiltern were well up for it and started with a penalty scored by Josh Davies who had a storming game. Then came a tearaway try down the left wing scored by Fraser Clark who had been fed by Josh. Marlow then scored a penalty with Chiltern offside at a ruck. Chiltern then were pressurising Marlow and secured a lineout near their line from which the superb Ed Jones drove over. Marlow then scored another penalty then hit the post with another.Craig Foster touched the rebound down. Then a fantastic run by the brilliant Tom Shiel who came from very deep to receive a perfect pass from Josh again.Tom scythed through the Marlow defence only to be tripped up resulting in a penalty try converted by Josh. At half time we were defending in our 22 ,great counter rucking gave us the ball and Josh cleared.Tom Preston came on for Alexis Ellender and makes two crucial tackles to keep Marlow out . Two sin bins reduce Chiltern to 13 men ,Marlow took advantage and scored their only try. Chiltern were then awarded a penalty and Craig Foster kicked to the corner for a lineout. A beautiful catch and drive saw under 17 prop Zenon driving over for a classic try. |

Hearty congratulations to the Colts for a magnificent conclusion to the season. Well done to the players and the Coaches and many thanks to Parents and supporters. This means that our Junior teams have won 4 Bucks Cups this season ! - Colts, U16 , U15 and U13. A terrific performance to establish Amersham & Chiltern as the best Club for Junior Rugby in the County by miles !! |

I would just like to say thanks to this team. Mike Bray and myself are now retiring from coaching Colts rugby after 5 fantastic years during which we have been in the last eight of the All England trophy and won the Bucks Cup final 4 times out of 5. (The one we lost by one point because we missed 6 kicks ) This years vintage had won very little when we started with them ,although there was excellent material amongst them.We couldn`t even field a team for this years National KO cup ,as we didnt have a front row.The BBO league put us in Division one ,well out of our depth ,and in one of our first games we lost to Marlow 55/0. It is a measure of what can be achieved with determination ,that these very same players , who have put their act together now, defeated Marlow so comprehensively on Sunday. They deserved this silverware and can go on to UNI with pride. It made it a brilliant finale for Mike and myself and we would like to thank them and the previous five years colts for a wonderful experience.
