Today Gosford All Blacks withdrew from saturdays game, as they couldn't field a team, that now gaurantees 2nd place, unfortunately league leaders Milton Keynes can not be caught. Well done to skipper Dave Neale and the whole squad, finishing second in BBO 1 North is a tremendous achievement. Great result lads!! |

Yeah, shame the season has to end this way though. would rather have gone out with a big W against them than have them concede the game. Do we definately get promoted now? So, with us finishing 2nd the important question now is - when do we get to celebrate our success at the end of season dinner?? |

Promotion: Not that clear, 2nd place teams can be asked to enter a playoff competetion. However also the RFU could object to the club operating two teams at the same level, both Prem and Prem A leagues are level 8, so lets get behind the 1s today and keep them up!!! Overall it won't be clarified until the season is complete, sorry its not that clear!! |

One club is not allowed to have 2 teams in the same league. If the 1s go down i think you find that the 2s will also have to go down unless they finish top with automatic promotion.Lets hope the 1s come back with a win!good luck sat! |

How about if we claim the 2s have broken away from the club and slightly change the team name?!?! |

Firstly congratulations to the 2nds for a great season due to a fantastic team spirit and a very talented(and even more positively young) squad. Surprised no one 'bit' to Luke's comment however...as a cynic would say that the attitude reflected above is the exact reason why the 2nds will not be promoted. Peter Pan |

and why the 1s have struggled on a few occasions to geta full squad on game days! |

What are you talking about? how does a little comment represent the reason we wont be promoted and the reason for the 1s failing to field a full squad on some weekends?! all that the comment represents is the fact we finished 2nd, deserve to be promoted and want to challenge ourselves as a team on a higher level next season. |

Agree that the 2nd's finished 2nd and do deserve to get promoted. What I mean is that the your comment fails to recognise one fundemental that has been missing all season... We are one club with 3 teams plus vets - and the ultimate goal for all should be to play/train to the best of ones ability and in doing so do the best by Amersham and Chiltern as a whole - with whatever team players are chosen to represent. Enough said on the matter as the season is over. Hopefully the taste of success experienced by the 2nds this season will drive some ambition to replicate this in the 1sts next. Neil |

I'm well aware we run three teams plus vets. As a player who travels up from Portsmouth every single weekend to turn out for this club, I think you'll find that there are few others who would be willing to put in that commitment to playing for A&C, and that is the reason the 1s have struggled to field full squads on ocassions. I remember a few seasons ago when the 1s were a division up from where they've just come down from and away trips were long haul journeys..........I'd get a phone call on a Friday night asking me to play for the 1sts the next day in bournemouth, because players were pulling out because their wives decided they didn't want them to travel that far. Thats all well and good, but when players are leaving it to the last minute to pull out and players are then being taken from the other teams, that is not doing the best for A&C as a whole, it is making sure the 1s have a full squad at the cost of the 2s and 3s. When we played Banbury and Milton Keynes early in the season, we went to them with only 14 players because we had lost players on the Friday night to the 1st team. As a result, we lost those two games but proved later in the season that, with 15 men, we could win those games, and we would probably have finished 1st had we done so. The other reason is that the majority of those players who've been called up on a Friday have sat on the bench for the entire duration of the game on a Saturday....given the choice, I'd take playing a full game for the 2s over sitting on the bench for an afternoon every single time. The team spirit of the 2s has been remarkable this season, and, being a team of young players, the majority of us had played together throughout the junior section of the club, which is why a number of players wanted to be on the pitch for the 2s every week. without wishing to open up a can of worms, in the past, I have heard a number of players say that they felt you needed to be "in" with certain people at the club to be considered for the 1s, whether you trained or not. Admittedly, I believe those comments were angled towards the selection decisions of the old coach Mark, and I really hope those feelings are wiped out by the new set up. I'm a Chiltern lad through and through and want to see the club do well on all levels which is why I jokingly made the comment as I am desperate to see the 2s promoted. I would never seriously suggest breaking away from the club. |
