Cons: Fowler (4)
Wycombe (5) 5
Tries: 1
Chiltern demolished the Wycombe vets side today 5 - 43, despite getting the opening score Wycombe were unable to stop the seven try onslaught from the Chiltern Vets, complimented by four conversions from Steve Fowler.
The pack dominated in both the scrum and lineout, front row of Bobbett, Long and Shanks, with the power of the Gibson's 'twins' Pete and Phil in the second row, and back row of Bowe, Preston (both of whom moved to Center during the game) and 'Chips' at 8. The half backs had a comfortable time behind that pack, Fowler at 9 and Tinker at 10, with Lane and Bell in the centre, winger's Feaver and Littlejohns, and last but no means least Bissex at 15. But special mention should go to the subs, Nick Morrison who actually played the first half for opposition, and Duncan Bell who came on as a late replacement for an injured Wycombe player, the Chiltern subs were Pete Collins - making a welcome return to pitch after a long injury layoff, Richard Dobbie (Flanker), Pete Levett (Wing), Graham Woods (Wing) and Mike Sanford (Flanker).
The seven tries, came from Gibson (Phil), Gibson (Pete) 2, Fowler, Lane, Bell and Collins - not necesarily in that order, your front row writer had too many beers after the game to work out in which order they scored.
Competition for man of match was fierce today, Paul Bowe played really well, not only as flanker but later in the game as centre, Bissex was a star at fullback, but man of match must go to one of the tight five who dominated this game, and with two tries the obvious choice is 'Big Pete' - Pete Gibson.
Well done to all 21 players, a great performance and result, next week brings a return to third team league rugby, with Witney visiting Ash Grove, the next Vets game is home against Ruislip on March 8th.

England v Romania (The Return Match)
Rugby Old Boys Grivita of Bucharest visited Amersham & Chiltern for a return match of the closely-fought encounter against the Chiltern 100’s in Bucharest earlier this year.
Chiltern President, Chris Smith, organised the social activities which included a 3-course welcome dinner at the club on the Thursday and a taste of some good British beer at the Red Lion on the Friday.
The vets skipper, Tim Tinker, put together a good team to take on the Old Boys for the Saturday morning and after a closely fought match, the defiant Chiltern players, won over the tourists by 5 trys to 2. Try scorers were Brian Feaver, Brian Richardson x2, Dave Richardson and Lewis Culverhouse.
