Welcome to Amersham and Chiltern RFC’s Under 6/7 Age Group.

There are no number limits in our age groups so if you would like your son or daughter to try out rugby you are welcome to come and train for 3 free sessions.  If everyone is happy then we ask that you take-up membership before your next training session.

Important Information

Registration is from 9.30a.m. Please ensure you sign-in your child with one of our AGOs.  Training starts at 10am for all ages. For the Reception and Year 1 children, the session last for approximately one hour. For the Year 2 children, the session is up to two hours, depending on the weather.

Our normal training ground is at the first goal posts located on the left hand side fields as you enter the main club gates.  Look out for the U6/7 sign board.

Please ensure your child turns up appropriately dressed for the weather conditions.  Tracksuit bottoms are a good idea in winter, in addition to a hat and gloves.

Please also ensure you bring a drink (non-fizzy) and a small snack.

Reception and Year 1 (Under 6’s)

The emphasis is very much on having fun and learning the basic skills of Tag Rugby. All sessions are strictly non-contact and end with a fun tag game. Last season, we introduced joint training sessions with a number of local Clubs, which was a great way for both the children and coaches learning new ideas and skills.

Year 2 (Under 7’s)

The philosophy for the Under 7’s is for the children to have as much fun as possible and to continue to learn and develop their basic rugby skills in relation to playing Tag Rugby. Again, it is strictly non-contact at this age. It is appreciated that, at this young age, every child develops at a different rate. The training sessions are very much tailored to take into consideration as much as possible every child’s ability and to encourage them in a fun way to develop their skills and confidence.

The season is full of training sessions with other Clubs and Tournaments, where the children will have the opportunity to put into practice their skills against some of the best Clubs in the country. The fixture list includes the majority of the more established local Clubs and some more famous names, including Saracens, Wasps and Richmond.

Coaching

All of our Coaches and Organisers are parent volunteers. If you would like to assist in coaching, then you would be most welcome. Please contact our Lead Coach Alan Baker (alan@viaroma.co.uk)
