Under 6/7's
Welcome to Amersham and Chiltern Rugby Club’s Under 6/7 Age Group.
The new 2010/11 Season starts on Sunday 5th September.
Registration is from 9.30am or you can pre-register with the club via the website.
Training starts at 10am for all ages.
For the Reception and Year 1 children, the session last for approximately one hour.
For the Year 2 children, the session is up to two hours, depending on the weather
Reception and Year 1 (Under 6’s)
The emphasis is very much on having fun and learning the basic skills of Tag Rugby. All sessions are strictly non-contact and end with a fun tag game. Last season, we introduced joint training sessions with a number of local Clubs, which was a great way for both the children and coaches learning new ideas and skills. We envisage that, after Christmas, joint sessions will be arranged again.
Year 2 (Under 7’s)
The philosophy for the Under 7’s is for the children to have as much fun as possible and to continue to learn and develop their basic rugby skills in relation to playing Tag Rugby. Again, it is strictly non-contact at this age. It is appreciated that, at this young age, every child develops at a different rate. The training sessions are very much tailored to take into consideration as much as possible every child’s ability and to encourage them in a fun way to develop their skills and confidence.
The season is full of training sessions with other Clubs and Tournaments, where the children will have the opportunity to put into practice their skills against some of the best Clubs in the country. The fixture list includes the majority of the more established local Clubs and some more famous names, including Saracens, Wasps and Richmond.
The Tournaments start at quite an early stage of the season, with only four training sessions before the first two Tournaments, being Windsor on 2nd October followed by our Tournament on 9th October.
Coaching
All of our Coaches and Organisers are parent volunteers. If you would like to assist in coaching, then you would be most welcome. Please let us know if you are interested.
End of Season Tour
Discussions are already under way about a possible End of Season Tour on the south coast. More to follow.
Social Evening
The Coaches and Organisers will be at the Club on Thursday 2nd September from 8pm onwards to have a social drink and to discuss the forthcoming season. We would welcome any parents who would like to come along to discuss plans for the season, and anyone who would like to join in and assist in the coaching.
We also need some volunteer referees and if anyone fancies this, then please let me know.
