Under 8s play at Wasps Match Day Tag Rugby Challenge

Match Day Tag Rugby Challenge vs Northampton Saints
We welcomed 56 young Tag Rugby players from 3 Community Partner Clubs to Adams Park Stadium on Sunday

On Sunday 6th November we were delighted to welcome 8 Tag Rugby teams to Adams Park Stadium to perform a display of their Tag Rugby skills in front of an appreciative 8,000 crowd during the half-time of London Wasps v Northampton Saints.

What is Tag Rugby?
Tag Rugby is a game played by teams of seven players. Each player wears a belt that has two velcro tags attached to it. The defenders have to pull one of the velcro tags from the ball-carrying attacking player, to force the player to pass the ball. The game is fast and exciting and develops the players’ agility, balance & coordination while focusing on the FUNdamental core skills of non-contact rugby.

This week's teams were from:

  • Maidenhead RFC U7s vs Witney RFC U7s
  • Maidenhead RFC U7s vs Witney RFC U7s
  • Amersham & Chiltern RFC U8s vs Witney RFC U8s
  • Amersham & Chiltern RFC U8s vs Witney RFC U8s

Before their demonstration matches, each team was invited to have a team photograph with London Wasps hooker Steve Thompson and full back Jack Wallace.

After the Tag Challenge, London Wasps Community Rugby Coach Ben Smiley told wasps.co.uk: "We were delighted to welcome a total of 56 young Tag Rugby players from 3 of our Community Partner Clubs to Adams Park Stadium on Sunday. Hopefully their experience in playing and watching rugby in a professional stadium environment has created a host of new London Wasps supporters, and maybe even motivated some future professional rugby players."
