AMERSHAM & CHILTERN SUFFER AT THE HANDS OF THE LEAGUE LEADERS, BOURNEMOUTH

Amersham & Chiltern 1st XV- 14 vs Bournemouth 1st XV- 85

Amersham & Chiltern 1st XV, already seriously depleted in numbers as a result of several key players still recovering from injury and not yet able to start playing this season, had further misfortunes with four regulars from the previous week injured, or unavailable and were forced to travel away to the league leaders, Bournemouth, with rather a scratch side. Although Chiltern managed two well-taken tries, both converted by full-back, Dan Kinsey, the visitors’ were always struggling against an outstanding team who probably should be playing in a league higher having inexplicably messed up their play off game last year. Despite the scoreline Chiltern never gave up and better defensive organisation and first time tackles would have made a difference to the score if not the result. Bournemouth have started the season with a bang and proved their worthiness for being top of the league with a fine display of running and support rugby that took their points tally, after only three games, to 188! There is still optimism in the Chiltern camp, however and with several useful players due to return to playing soon and with some, perceived, lighter opposition coming up over the next few weeks, it can only be hoped that the improvements will come.
