Amersham and Chiltern u15 A 38 v 5 Beaconsfield

Formally a League Match with a Cup encounter to follow the next week, it was decided to make this a Double Header to settle both League and Cup fixtures in the one match.  All to play for then! If Chiltern were expecting an easy morning they were going to be surprised because this turned into a very physical contest with a smattering of regrettable injuries.  We were very sorry to see Tom Lee of Beaconsfield, carried off with a damaged ankle as the first of a few forced retirements.  The match continued with Beaconsfield making every effort to contain the Chiltern game.  Effective this was too because from the sidelines our boys seemed unable to find their typical free-flowing form.  So not a pretty exhibition and credit to our opponents but A and C still found strength and depth which Beaconfield could not match.  Among some strong Chiltern performances George Stokes, Tom Wood and Joe Batt deserve a mention.  You just can't keep Joe down!
